Fully Circular Basics Brand Plainandsimple Launches Kickstarter Campaign
London-based basics brand Plainandsimple officially launches its crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter.

October 16, 2020 – Plainandsimple is on a mission to create premium quality, long-lasting wardrobe staples that can be sent back at the end of their life and then broken down into new products, closing the loop on circular fashion. With sustainable and ethical practices at its core, Plainandsimple is driven by the clean philosophy of delivering high-quality products and offering fashion consumers a better choice.

Founder Duco Bloemers comments, ‘Each year we purchase around 80 billion new pieces of clothing, with 73% going to landfill and only 1% being recycled back into new clothing. We want to change this by creating fully circular basics, bringing value back to the customer and make it easy for everyone to make a difference. We believe in high-quality pieces and for us, sustainability is not only about producing products in the most sustainable way but also taking responsibility for those products at the end of their life.’

Already garnering a growing community on social platforms, Plainandsimple will launch with its Original T-shirt available in two styles and two colours; black and white for men and women. Both made in premium weights, the 7.1 Ounce Original men’s style has a classic design with a regular fit, while the 6.4 Ounce Original women’s style is designed more feminine, tucking in a little at the waist with the cuffs a little shorter. Produced from super soft GOTS certified organic cotton, each tee is perfected by small details such as the weave of the cotton, slightly thicker collars and durable stitching giving a high-quality aesthetic. Designed to stand the test of time and style.

The t-shirts are sustainably and ethically made in Tirupur, India with two fully certified partners who advocate the use of renewable energy to power their production. With complete transparency of their supply chain, safe working conditions and the use of non-harmful chemicals, both partners are equally motivated by their values, technology and responsibility.

Plainandsimple is committed to its philosophy of ‘Made to be Re-Made’. Each t-shirt comes with a lifetime guarantee; when it reaches the end of its life, it can be returned for free and a discount will be offered off the next purchase. The returned t-shirts will be sent back to their spinners, who will break them down and re-spin them into new recycled yarn blending it with new organic cotton to restore its strength and durability. This new recycled fabric will then be used to make new Plainandsimple t-shirts.

Every aspect of the Plainandsimple t-shirt journey has been considered and they note that not all of their t- shirts will come back to them. But because they have been made out of 100% organic cotton, with no plastic from the fabric to the label, they are 100% biodegradable, fully circular and planet-friendly. Their packaging, made out of corn starch, is also 100% biodegradable converting itself into fertilizer for plants within three months. A fully circular 100% biodegradable product from top to bottom.

Set to retail at £24 through with worldwide shipping, their original t-shirts are affordable, accessible and ethical proving that sustainable style can be black and white and does not have to come at a cost; to the consumer or the planet.
